GT ENGINEERING, a local auto shop specialising in performance modifications and maintenance of the Nissan GTR recently made a key breakthrough by winning a prestigious drag race held in Kuching recently.
The all-wheel Nissan GT-R35, tuned and engineered by the specialists’ who have been operational in Brunei for four years, were crowned champions in two racing categories at the inaugural Zer082wo Drag War held at Demak Laut Industrial Park from November 11-12.
Driver, Jack Tan from Brunei was the fastest drag racer in his 850 horsepower Nissan GT-R35 competing in the Class A – 2WD/4WD Pro Drag and the Class F – 2WD/4WD Pro Street Turbo.
Among the tough rivals during the drag race were variations of the lighter and equally fast Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and the hot hatchback, Honda Civic, driven by experienced racers.
In celebration of the achievement, GT Engineering recently hosted a mini-gathering by inviting their loyal customers and Nissan GTR enthusiasts at GT Engineering located in Menglait.
Present was Director of GT Engineering, Lim Jin Hou who accredited the win to his team who have spent countless hours to developed the GT-R35 with the right setup.
“The GTR can turn from a reliable street car into a very competitive race car due to our advanced map selection via the cruise control. It’s with the cob-tuning software that enabled us to select different driving modes which is all custom-programmed by us at GT engineering,” he said.
One of the biggest challenges faced during the drag race was transporting the cars to Kuching. It took the GT Engineering team five gruelling days of travelling (on dual-trailer) and competing at the same time but all the hard work paid off with the podium finish.
His team has been competing in various parts of Malaysia with the flagship GT-R35 tuned and designed by GT Engineering to win podium finishes since 2012.
Moving forward, Lim would like to carry his passion for fast cars to join in more racing competitions while continuing to design and develop performance parts to be one of the leading car tuners in the region.
