ENDING 2016 on a high note and setting yet another remarkable milestone, the largest local commercial bank in the country Baiduri Bank received the ‘Bank of the Year’ award from The Banker for the 11th time.
The announcement of the latest accolade was made by Baiduri Bank CEO Pierre Imhof at the media appreciation luncheon on Thursday, where he also recapped some of the bank’s milestones in 2016.
He highlighted that earlier this year, in line with providing the highest level of service delivery with the highest level of security in the industry, Baiduri Bank rolled out the second phase of its enhanced Internet banking service offering more features and improved security.
Speaking on security, he said, “To date, we are still the only bank in Brunei to receive the PCI-DSS Certification – a payment card industry standard in dealing with cardholder data. This means that our cardholders, which I am sure include all of you, can be reassured that your data in our system is well-protected.”
On introduction of latest technology, he said, “We have recently launched our MerchantSuite, which is a suite of solutions to enable micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to take their businesses to a higher level by providing an affordable online platform to issue invoices and accept card payments.”
Touching on increasing the bank’s visibility, Pierre Imhof pointed out, “Some of you may have noticed our new and improved Kiulap branch at the Shakirin Complex. This new branch comprises a larger banking hall, larger overall space, a new Prestige Centre and more ATMs. We have also recently relocated our Tutong branch to larger premises at the Petani Mall.
“In the near future, we will be relocating our Serusop branch which will also incorporate designs based on the café banking concept we first adopted at our Muara branch.”
He also mentioned some of the awards the bank has received this year, which include The World’s Best Emerging Markets Bank in Asia-Pacific for Brunei from Global Finance, The Domestic Retail Bank for Brunei from the Asian Banking and Finance Magazine and The Best Banking Group for Brunei from World Finance Magazine.
“The banking industry all over the world is becoming increasingly regulated and we are no exception.
“These awards reflect on our ability to remain relevant in an unpredictable economy,” the CEO said.
