TWENTY-seven individuals from the private sector, NGOs and various government agencies will get to enhance their volunteering skills following the opening ceremony of the Volunteer Leadership Programme at the Games Village yesterday.
Organised by the Youth Division of the Youth and Sports Department, the participants will have to go through two days of theory sessions and another two days of practical training in helping underprivileged people.
They will be visiting and distributing donations to 15 families in Labi as part of their practical training.
The four-day programme was officiated by Pengiran Anak Mohd Sofian bin Pengiran Anak Haji Ibrahim, the Acting Director of Youth and Sports.
The organiser, Md Amirul Syazmie bin Ibrahim, said, “The event is organised in conjunction with International Volunteer Day 2016 with the theme ‘Global Applause – give volunteers a hand’.
The aim of the training programme is to provide training for proper volunteer work as well as to enhance their skills in volunteering.
It is also hoped that it can further create awareness on volunteering as well as for NGOs to come together to carry our volunteering projects to make a difference.”
Pengiran Anak Muhd Sofian in his speech said, “Organised for the first time, the programme will provide an opportunity for participants to learn proper volunteering approaches in contributing back to communities.”
