THE registration of She Runs 2016, an all female charity run event organised by Fitness Zone, has come to a close after reaching the 2,000-participant limit.
Set to take place on May 15 at Fitness Zone in Serusop, the second installation of the charity run initially set its participation limit at 1,500.
The event aims to raise awareness of empowerment in women and give back to society; Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA) and Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD) are set to be the beneficiaries for this year.
Last year’s event raised $55,000 for YASKA.
“The response from the women community in Brunei for the event is overwhelming,” said Wu Chun, Managing Director of Fitness Zone.
“I’m happy to see so many people come out to participate in an event to empower women. It sends the message that there are more who want to be part of making a difference and giving back to our community,” he added.
The deadline for payment and slot confirmation has been extended until April 18 and can be made at the Fitness Zone main branch in Kiulap.
Meanwhile, Hao Zi and Ah Xiang of ‘Super Taste’, a famous Taiwanese TV show on TVBS, are currently in the country to film an episode called ‘Magic Brunei’ and show their support for the charity event.
