THE Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) has updated its mobile application ‘Brunei WX’ with new features such as the marine forecast and six-part daily forecast.

The app also has simpler weather icons and notifies users with warnings, advisories and updated information on the condition of the weather and seas.

With the motto ‘helping you understand weather better’, the app has received an encouraging response from the public with around 21,000 downloads for Android users and 16,100 for iPhone users.

To further promote the use of the application, officers from the BDMD took part in the Beach Safety Awareness Day yesterday morning held at Tungku Beach.

Titty Dewana said that the updated version of Brunei WX was first introduced to the public on November 27, 2016 during the ‘Bandarku Ceria’ initiative.

“The latest edition of the app is the perfect app to find out the current condition of the weather before heading to the sea for fishing as well as swimming.

“The app also gives advisory to the public such as warnings and the height of the tide. It also gives information on the wind,” she added.

Kelly Ng, an officer from the BDMD, who is also part of the group in promoting the app highlighted that members of the public can also follow the department’s Instagram @bruneiweather and Facebook page @bruneiweather to get updates.

Members of the public can also call the weather line 114 to check on the current weather or log on to www.met.gov.bn for further information.
