THE Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will hold the Amazing Thailand Roadshow on January 9, 2017 at Radisson Hotel, Brunei Darussalam.
Richard Lim, TAT Marketing Manager for Malaysia and Brunei, said the roadshow will include an Amazing Thailand Product presentation and a trade meeting with buyers.
“The Brunei market is one of our (TAT’s) strong and very interesting ones because the Brunei market is a niche market. Most of the tourists from Brunei are repeat travellers who are already familiar with Thailand,” said Richard.
“Basically they like to go to Thailand for food and shopping. Some also go there for medical check-ups,” he added.
In 2015, the number of Bruneians who visited Thailand was about 13,800 which was a 20 per cent growth from the previous year, he said.
“In 2014, there were about 11,200 visitors from Brunei. TAT is looking forward for the numbers to increase this year.”
On Thailand’s strong selling points compared to other countries, Richard said, “There are many things particularly good hospitality and services.”
“Many countries try to emulate Thai culture and cuisine but the one value that they cannot copy is the ‘Thai-ness’,” he said, alluding to the friendliness and warm hospitality instilled in the Thai people at an early age.
