Govt committed to developments for people’s welfare

THE 12th Legislative Council (LegCo) Meeting yesterday saw LegCo members deliver adjournment speeches move towards the closing of meetings that included suggestions and remarks.

One of the LegCo members who spoke in the afternoon session yesterday was YB Awang Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Ahad, the Village Head of Kampong Belingos in Mukim Bangar, who commended the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in ensuring that Brunei is always secure, peaceful and prosperous.

YB Awang Haji Sulaiman also said that despite our country’s current limited financial capability, the government is still able to allocate a huge budget for the Fiscal Year 2016-17, which shows its commitment to ensure smooth developments in various fields, and more importantly, equipping various facilities for the people’s welfare.

He also urged everyone in the country to take into account the current situation and understand its reality, while at the same time supporting and uphold any efforts made by the government to ensure the comfort, security and harmony within the society as well as the needs and interests of the people that are always protected.

“In addition, all parties should play their part in helping the agencies concerned to diversify the country’s economic resources,” he added.

He also noted that what is hoped for by the people of Brunei is that all plans and projects are run and completed according to set schedules, so that they will be able to witness and experience the results of such implementation.

He also touched on the government’s efforts in enhancing the effectiveness of education in the country’s schools as the main source of knowledge for its people, especially for the youth who will shape the country’s future.

Elaborating on his statement, he believes that an impeccable, comfortable and conducive learning area is needed for more effective learning and teaching, and he hopes that a strategy and plan on the matter is in the works.

“We are all aware that a comfortable learning area will help in the effectiveness of the learning and teaching process, where our students will be able to follow their learning better and become more studious and educated, as well as mature and resilient in line with the wishes and expectations of the government to ensure the successful achievement of the national Vision 2035,” he added.
