STRONG wind gusts on Sunday evening blew off a large part of a house’s roof in Kampong Sungai Besar, Mukim Kota Batu, forcing a family of seven to flee their home to safer grounds.
According to one of the house occupants, Rudy, the strong wind struck the house that belongs to his parents-in-law at about 2.15pm on Sunday afternoon while some of the house occupants were inside, immediately cutting off power supply to the house.
Fortunately no one was injured.
The Fire and Rescue Department were despatched to the scene and covered the opening with a temporary canvas to protect the house from further damage while the Village Head of Kampong Sungai Besar and personnel from the Brunei-Muara District Office, Electrical Services Department, Department of Community Development and Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) also visited the scene to assess the damage and offer their assistance.
Rudy said his parents-in-law and family are now staying with him temporarily at his house in Kampong Mengkubau.
