TWENTY-FIVE International Baccalaureate (IB) students of International School Brunei (ISB) achieved excellent Malay B results in the November 2016 examination session, with 84 per cent scoring Levels 6 and 7, equivalent to grades A and A*, according to a press release.
Among the students who celebrated success in completing the intensive Malay language course was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak ‘Aizzatul Bulqiah who grew up at the school.
“I am very grateful to my teachers and friends here at ISB; working hard together and learning cooperatively helped so much in meeting IB criteria and performing well to exceed expectations in Malay,” she said in the statement. “I am looking forward to completing the rest of my IB Diploma in May and heading to university in the UK.”
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year educational programme aimed at students aged 16-19, providing an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education, and is widely accepted by universities worldwide.
According to Robert Commons, Head of Secondary in ISB, “We have been offering the IBDP since 2002. The large majority of our students take the IB Diploma, however, we do offer additional routes to university. On average, 95-100 per cent of our students leave to universities.”
ISB’s team of advisers recommends a “suitable pathway and tailored courses based on individual student’s needs, university entry requirements and future country destinations”, he said, adding that some of the current Year 13 graduates have received offers from universities such as Cardiff, Kent, Essex, Reading, Nottingham and Lancaster.
