HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Thursday attended the opening ceremony of the 13th Session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit at the Istanbul Congress Centre, Republic of Turkey.
His Majesty was greeted on arrival at the Istanbul Congress Centre by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey and Chairman of the 13th Session of the OIC Summit.
His Majesty was then invited to take part in a group photo session with kings and heads of state and government of the OIC member and non-member states.
The opening session commenced with an opening statement by Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt as Chairman of the 12th Session of the OIC Summit, which was delivered by Sameh Hassan Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
This was followed by a statement by Iyad Ameen Madani, Secretary General of the OIC; and a statement by the President of the Republic of Turkey as Chairman of the 13th Session of the OIC Summit.
On Wednesday, His Majesty arrived safely in the Republic of Turkey to attend the 13th Session of the OIC Summit. Present at Istanbul Ataturk Airport to greet His Majesty was Mustafa Elitas, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Turkey.
Also present to greet His Majesty were Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; and Haji Mohd Sahrip bin Haji Othman, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Turkey.
