ILLAL Majdi Wan Najaah (IMAN) is one of the academic programmes at Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTE Tutong). To initiate the IMAN programme for this year, the I-MOTIVASI motivational talk was organised recently at the Multi-Purpose Hall of PTE Tutong.

About 200 Upper Sixth/Year 13 students and staff members attended the event which, among others, aimed to inculcate the values of life, personality development, motivation and self-confidence.

In addition, it was held with the hope that students can be inspired to further realise their fullest potential through self-reflections, according to a press release.

Cikgu Muhammad Bahri bin Bohari, an Education Officer from Dato Basir Primary School in Lambak Kanan, gave a heart-warming account of his childhood and school experience, having been born without both hands.

His tale included his early childhood, being held back to join a junior football competition in primary school, only to be supported enthusiastically by his Physical Education teacher who greatly believed in him.

He continues to play football actively today.

He recounted that every time he entered a new level of schooling, people whom he first met, who would later become his friends and coursemates, actually had the same idea about him. “They thought I was hiding my arms inside my shirt!” he exclaimed.

He achieved admirable academic achievements in his public examinations, whereby he revealed that the Special Education Unit,

Ministry of Education afforded him special considerations with extra time as he had to write with his foot.

Cikgu Muhammad Bahri eventually completed a Bachelor of Primary Education at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam in 2012, and subsequently finished his Master of International Education at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom on a full government scholarship.

“There were no exceptions for me, in terms of assignments, deadlines as well as teaching practices,” he shared.

The talk was held in collaboration between the Counselling Department, headed by Cikgu Norhaslinda binti Haji Mohd Adnan, and Cikgu Muhd Shahnofazli bin Haji Sabli, Senior Master (CCA).

The event concluded with the Deputy Principal (Administration), Cikgu Almasri bin Haji Sulaiman, presenting the invited speaker with a token of appreciation.
