HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Chairman of the Executive Committee for the 10th National Development Plan (RKN10), yesterday conducted the ninth working visit to several project sites under the RKN10, specifically projects under the Ministry of Development.
His Royal Highness was greeted on arrival at the Project Site Office by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs; Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance II, as the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the RKN10; Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Minister of Development; as well as other members of the Executive Committee of the RKN10.
His Royal Highness was then ushered to a briefing that began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa Selamat read by Pengiran Haji Mohammad Hafizuddin bin Pengiran Haji Bakar, Mosque Affairs Officer.
This was followed by a briefing by Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Acting Permanent Secretary (Technical and Professional) at the Ministry of Development on projects that were to be visited.
After the briefing, His Royal Highness accompanied by the Minister of Development proceeded to visit the Kampong Ayer Zone ‘A’ Revitalisation Project Site where His Royal Highness was briefed on the current status of the project by Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Abdul Karim, Acting Director of Drainage and Sewerage Department at the Public Works Department (JKR).
His Royal Highness was then ushered to the Revitalisation Project Site near the Kampong Sumbiling Jetty.
There, His Royal Highness was briefed by Pengiran Muhammad Fuad bin Pengiran Haji Ali, Acting Executive Engineer at JKR, before signing the royal parchment and a group photo.
The revitalisation project aims to mitigate flooding in Sungai Kedayan catchment areas, improve connectivity, nurture a healthy life style and provide a platform for economic development. As of this month, 53 per cent of the project has been completed, which is four per cent ahead of schedule. It is expected to be completed on May 25, 2018 at a cost of B$35,991,266.47.
The project involves the construction of a grand entrance, crescent bridge, landscape area, Kampong Sumbiling Jetty, Fire and Rescue services jetty and Riverfront Promenade.
His Royal Highness then proceeded to Tarindak D’Seni to view the project sites under Phase 2 of the Jalan Residency Expansion Project.
There, His Royal Highness was briefed on the project by Haji Mazlan bin Haji Abdul Salim, Acting Director of Roads at JKR. His Royal Highness also had morning refreshments there.
To have a closer look at the project, His Royal Highness then proceeded to the Jalan Residency Expansion Project Site (Phase 2) where His Royal Highness was briefed by Rafitra bin Haji Abdul Razak, Acting Assistant Director of Roads at JKR. His Royal Highness also signed a royal parchment and joined a group photo session.
His Royal Highness was then escorted to the project site of the connecting bridge from Sungai Kebun to Jalan Residency. At the site, His Royal Highness was briefed by Acting Director of Roads before boarding the vehicle to survey the bridge towards Jalan Sungai Kebun.
His Royal Highness then proceeded to the middle of the bridge for a briefing, before signing a royal parchment and joining a group photo session to mark the end of the visit.
The working visit to the RKN10 project sites reflects the leadership of His Royal Highness in ensuring the smooth execution of the planned projects in order to support the nation’s aspiration towards achieving Brunei Vision 2035.
