THE Pandit Jai Kishan Maharaj troupe from India last night showcased the most graceful dance forms, including the ‘Kathak’ dance, at the Arts Centre of Jerudong International School (JIS).
The event’s guest of honour was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The founder of the Pandit Jai Kishan Maharaj troupe is a well-known classical dance maestro from North India and a descendant of other renowned dance maestros who had elevated the art form over the last 200 years in Lucknow and Delhi.
Last night’s performance was organised by the High Commission of India in Brunei Darussalam in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
