TWENTY BIBD employees were awarded certifications for wealth management in Islamic banking yesterday.

The Certified Qualification in Islamic Banking (CQIF) in Wealth Management received by BIBD’s employees elevated the bank’s capability to provide better Islamic wealth management consultation for its customers, a press release said.

The CQIF is an advanced level programme under IBFIM’s (Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia) Islamic Financial Qualifications Framework and Progression Route.

To participate in this course, BIBD employees first had to undertake an eight-month certification programme to be a qualified Islamic Financial Planner (IFP).

These efforts support Brunei’s long-term development plan to be a nation recognised for the accomplishments of its well-educated and highly-skilled people by the creation of world-class professionals.

The Managing Director of BIBD, Mubashar Khokhar, commented that the involvement of employees in such programmes will develop the bank’s capabilities “to provide more robust and world-class Islamic financial and wealth management solutions”.

BIBD currently has a team of 42 certified IFP, four of whom are also Chartered Financial Consultants (ChFC).
