HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday led the Black Team to an 8-5 victory against the Grey Team in the finals of the Richard Mille Charity Polo Tournament for the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA) at the Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club.
His Majesty together with Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah scored in both the first and third chukka, while Pablo McDonough and Farid Abdullah sealed the win with four more goals.
Meanwhile, goals for the Grey Team came from His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah with three while Shilai Liu and Matias McDonough rounded off the scores with a goal each. Also playing for the Grey Team was Tawil.
The Red Team claimed third place with a 7-5 win against the White Team.
Playing for the Red Team were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul ‘Ali Yil-Kabier, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Bahar, Huzaimi Husin, and Ale Agote.
Playing for the White Team were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi, Dato Haji Mustappa, Ploy Bhinsaeng and Joaquin Pittaluga.
Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah was given the Richard Mille Graphite Polo Mallet after accumulating the most goals for the whole weekend.
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel, Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah as well as other members of the royal family were also present to watch the charity tournament.
For the charitable contribution of the Richard Mille Polo Tournament to YASKA, His Majesty received a bouquet of flowers from children of YASKA at the end of the prize presentation ceremony.
