DR HAJI Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), recently attended the 7th general conference of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW) held at the headquarters of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) in Rabat, Maghribi.
The organisation consists of 317 universities around the world and among the objectives of the FUIW is to raise the level of scientific research in all fields, exchange views, and meet the needs of developing Islamic civilisation.
FUIW also works to upgrade and expand higher education to meet the needs of the Muslim community and benefit from new developments in science and technology in harmony with Islam.
The two-day conference was also attended by Dr Jamila El Moussalli, Acting Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executive Training of the Kingdom of Morocco; Professor Dr Suliman Aba Al-Khail, Rector of the Islamic University of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud in Riyadh – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as Chairman of the FUIW Executive Council; and Dr Abdul Aziz bin Othman Altwaijri, ISESCO Director General and Secretary General of FUIW as well as 171 representatives of universities around the world.
