AHMAD Taufiq Murni reigned supreme in the Brunei Darussalam Cue Sports Association (BCSA) National 9-Ball Ranking Challenge Grand Final 2016 after beating Lim Wei Kok in a 13-3 demolition at the ProX Pool House in Gadong last night.
The current Brunei top ranked cueist stormed into a commanding 6-0 lead with Lim’s scratching his cue ball did little to deter the former in magnificent form.
Lim, Taufiq’s SEA Games teammate in Singapore a couple of years ago, got his name on the board and completed a second rack after Taufiq failed to pocket home a 8-ball into the far corner.
However, Taufiq would only surrender one more frame to the 5th ranked player before clinching five consecutive frames to secure a comfortable victory.
“I was satisfied with my game play tonight. I still need to do some refinements on my break,” said Taufiq in an interview with the Bulletin shortly after the prize presentation.
The top national cueist accomplished six wins in eight legs to finish top place in the overall ranking after accumulating 595 points followed by Md Azim bin Haji Abu Bakar with 385 points and Pengiran Anak Haji Awadi Zool-hilmi bin Pengiran Anak Latifuddin with 345 points.
Presenting the prizes was Kamarul Ariffin bin Haji Arpan, President of BCSA.
