THE Inter-Company Sports Fest 2016 Futsal Tournament kicked off yesterday at the JRK Sports Complex.
Present to officiate the futsal tournament was Awang Mohammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Also present was the Acting Commissioner of the Labour Department, Haji Rani BPSk DSS Haji Mohd Yusof.
The opening ceremony began with the guest of honour being introduced to the participating teams, followed by a ball kick by the guest of honour to officiate the event.
The opening ceremony then concluded with a presentation of token of appreciation to the guest of honour, and a group photo with the two opening game teams.
The opening game saw a match between the Labour Department and D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd team.
This year’s futsal tournament has attracted 48 teams from 43 companies, and cash prize of $800 and challenge trophy await the champions, second place winners will bring home a cash prize of $600 and third place a cash prize of $400.
In addition, all champions will be awarded a limited edition, original Yokohama Chelsea round neck shirt contributed by YHI Corporations (B) Sdn Bhd.
Matches will take place at the JKR Sports Complex in Berakas throughout the tournament.
The public are welcome to witness the event and cheer the participating teams, as admission is free.

The Inter-Company Bowling Tournament will commence May 1, while the registration for the Inter-Company Netball Tournament is open until April 30 and matches will begin on May 6.
The sports fest is organised by the Labour Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, with D’Sunlit as the event manager.
The matches are co-organised by the Brunei Basketball Association, Brunei National Badminton Association, MegaStrike Bowl Sdn Bhd, National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam, and the Brunei Netball Association.
