AS MANY as six Qaris and six Qariahs who will be participating in the finals of the National Adult Musabaqah Al-Quran Reading Competition 1438H/2017M took part in a two-day Tarannum Al-Quran Workshop at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) yesterday.

The workshop was led by a professional Qari from Egypt, Yasser Mahmoud Abdel Khalek Ahmed, who is well known in the art of Al-Quran re-citation. The participants of the workshop were taught various breathing techniques and vocal tones.

The workshop aimed to increase the knowledge of its participants through guided teaching, exposing the participants to the Quranic rhythms not found within this region, providing training before the participants present their recitations and for them to identify their strengths and weaknesses.

The workshop was organised by the Islamic Syiar Development Division, MoRA, in their capacity as the secretariat for the National Adult Musabaqah Al-Quran Reading Competition 1438H/2017M.
