THE aspiration of Brunei Darussalam becoming a developed country by 2035 will be realised through everyone in the community especially local entrepreneurs who are involved with the Brunei traditional industry strengthening the local economy.
This was stated by Muhammad Aliyusri bin Haji Emran, Chairperson of the organising committee for the three-day Brunei Traditional Industry’s seminar and exhibition that came to a close yesterday.
He emphasised the need to provide exposure on the contribution of the said industry.
Present as guest of honour was Noralipah binti Haji Mohamed, lecturer from the Academy of Brunei Studies at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
The event was held as part of the academic module carrying the theme ‘Halal, Good and Blessed Traditional Industry’ under the Academy of Brunei Studies (APB). It sought to provide a better understanding of the Sultanate’s socio-economic scenario.
Each student was tasked with performing extensive research and analysis for their project, which was to produce a report contributing to the development and success of Brunei’s traditional industry, along with issues being faced by communities that undertake such industries.
There were 24 booths showcasing the students’ projects in the form of foods and handicrafts.
