A BRUNEIAN and two Malaysian students from Curtin University Sarawak Malaysia were involved in a road accident in Miri.
According to a statement provided by Sarawak State Traffic Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Alexon Naga of the Royal Malaysia Police, an accident involving a female Bruneian driver who was carrying two Malaysian female passengers occurred in the vicinity of Sri Miri Army Camp along a curve in the direction towards Miri city from Miri Airport.
“The Brunei-registered vehicle crashed and hit the barrier of a bus stop,” the statement said.
The statement also mentioned that the three victims were sent to a General Hospital in Miri.
In an interview with the Bulletin, Naga advised drivers to be careful and to be on alert and to not use mobile devices while driving.
“Do not drive with excessive speed especially at the curves on the road,” added the officials.
The statement also said that the weather was fine while the road was found to be dry when authorities visited the scene.
The cause of the accident has been deemed inconclusive and the case declared to be under ongoing investigation. There were no casualties and the statement further said that the three students were later discharged from the hospital.
