THE Australian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam is working with International School Brunei (ISB) to host two Aussie swim coaches until April 29 under the ‘OzSwim Brunei’ programme, which began yesterday at the ISB Swimming Pool.
The experienced Joanne Love and Haydn Belshaw will be sharing their expertise in developing the champions of the future with coaches and teachers from across Brunei and Labuan throughout the week.
Over 60 coaches have registered to attend from both the government and international schools, while students will join the fun with a squad training day tomorrow and Gala Day from tomorrow to Friday.
Belshaw said, “It is about upgrading swimming skills with a registered qualification as well through a strain of coaches and teachers’ association.
“ISB has graciously given up their facilities for us to use for the next few days.”
Australia’s High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Todd Mercer, said Australia’s reputation for excellence in the pool at an elite level was undeniable.
He said Joanne and Haydn had expertise in preparing young swimmers for competition at the highest levels.
