THE drama ‘Zaman Pendudukan Jepun Di Brunei’ by students of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School was placed first in the Stage Drama Competition held in conjunction with the 33rd National Day celebration 2017.

Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School with their drama ‘Perang Kastila’ was placed second while third and fourth places were won by Sultan Hassan Bangar Secondary School and Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, respectively.

The final competition was held at Dewan Raya Radio Televisyen Brunei in the capital yesterday.

Drama is one of the chosen subjects offered in National Education System for the 21st Century (SPN2) for secondary school students in the country.

The Co-Curriculum Education Department through Akil Unit in collaboration with TV Children Unit, Radio Televisyen Brunei, Putra Seni Group and PPC Quarry Company for the first time organised the Stage Drama Competition to support this endeavour.

These comments were made by Roslin bin Suhailee, Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education, at the final of Stage Drama Competition for secondary school and colleges nationwide in conjunction with the National Day celebration.

He said the competition aims to give challenges to students in persuing their drama career and at the same time unearth their talent and potential in the performing field.

Roslin said it also encourages them to perform before the public with confidence and skills.

He said the department hopes the initiative will become a platform to produce quality actors and actresses in the future.

Four teams participated in the final competition yesterday. It included Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School, Sultan Hassan Secondary school and Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School.

Winners

First: Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School

Second: Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School

Third: Sultan Hassan Bangar Secondary School

Fourth: Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School
