CAMPING activity provides an opportunity for scouts to practise their knowledge obtained through scouting activities, Haji Ismail bin Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Setia Dato Setia Haji Hapidz (photo below), Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) said.
He made these comments at the 22nd Brunei National Scouts Camp which concluded yesterday.
The closing ceremony was held at the National Scouts Training and Activity Centre, Scouts Complex.
The camp held from March 19 to 23 saw the participation of 554 scouts from Brunei and abroad.
The camp was held under the theme ‘Building the Young Generation’s Personality through Scouting’.
Among the objectives of the camp were to encourage physical development among members, thinking, spiritual and emotional development as well as training the participants on good values not only for themselves but also towards their families, community, religion and nation.
The foreign participants were from Indonesia, Labuan, Miri, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak.
A Messenger of Peace (MoP) was also carried out in raising awareness on environment through rubbish hunting activity around their camp site, educational tour to Kampong Ayer Cultural and Tourism Gallery, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex and Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education was also present.
