THE ‘Heroes on Wheels’ fundraiser played out at the Jerudong Park (JP) Amphitheatre yesterday, drawing the support of 2,000 people who showed up on bicycles, manual scooters, skateboards, roller blades and skates, as well as other modes of non-motorised transport.
Seri Mulia Sarjana School (SMSS) organised the fundraiser to commemorate its Silver Jubilee, and its theme ‘Towards a healthier environment’ is in line with the school initiative in championing health and environmental awareness.
The wheel-a-thon raised $14,089.72 for the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA), and $5,659 for Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD).
SMSS Chief Executive Officer Dr Mary Lim presented the mock cheque to Samsudin bin Haji Puasa from DANA and Haji Md Hamirul Khair bin Haji Ahmad from SOBD.
Since its establishment, SMSS has actively promoted and organised charity events for worthy causes, working alongside local charity organisations up to this day.
The funds raised involved the joint effort of SMSS teachers, staff, students and parents.
