KOTA Junior FC began their defence of the Brunei Futsal League title with a stunning 7-0 victory against newly promoted Eagle Blues FC at the Indoor Stadium on Sunday.
Faizul Jefry Haji Zaini inspired the reigning holders with a hat-trick with further strikes from Mohammad Faiz, Nur Yamin Haji Muhammad, Nur Adi Zulhusni Awang Jufeeri and Awang Zulhirni A. Rais completing the rout.
Nur Yamin has just returned from a month-long training scheme stint from popular Indonesian futsal club Vamos Mataram alongside his team-mate Maziri Maidin.
The club have also announced the signing of 24-year old Afif Ali and 19-year old Awangku Azim.
Afif, who has a football background, plied his trade at Al-Idrus Junior last season in the Brunei DST Premier League while Azim featured for the NFT Under-20 team last season.
Meanwhile, Arbisyam FC inflicted title contenders and future Asean Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Club Championship participant Shah United to their first loss this season with a 3-0 win.
Title rivals MS ABDB also lost ground after being held in a 4-4 draw by Riz Fiz FT.
