BUSIIDO BJJ impressed in the regional stage of the Copa de Bangkok at Chantanayingyong Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, over the weekend.
The Brunei-based club bagged three gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
Head coach Eazy Anuar led the way in inspiring fashion, clinching gold in both the weight and absolute divisions.
“We expected a tough day and we got it,” said Eazy.
Eazy, who enjoyed a successful outing in the Pan Asian Jiu-Jitsu International Open in Manila last month, indicated that perseverance was key to their success.
With a host of clubs from all around the globe competing for the same prize including the prestigious Nova Uniao, the Brunei played their part in upsetting the odds.
“Opponents were tough, all from various training camps and gyms,” said Eazy. “But we persevered and executed what we trained.
“It was a good result overall. For those who are going to bigger competitions, this is a good warm-up.
“For the ones who just started competing, let it be a stepping stone and learning process. There is no losing, only learning regardless of the results.”
Dayangku Norfaziah Abas was the other competitor who struck gold in the weight class and also took home bronze in the absolute division.
Abi Umamah Ali clinched a silver and bronze while Haji Abdul Hadi Bakir took home the other silver.
The remaining bronze medallists were Nobel Lee and Malek Ali.
