Youth delegation leaves for Malaysia

A DELEGATION of 10 youths yesterday departed for Kuala Lumpur to participate in the Youth Exchange Programme between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, which runs from May 2 to 7.

Led by Shahrinah binti Haji Abdul Rahman, Assistant Head of Youth and Sports Officer at the Youth and Sports Department, the delegation includes students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Technologi Brunei (UTB), Meragang Sixth Form Centre and Kemuda Institute, as well as the head of the Youth Centre Club in Temburong, former students from the Youth Development Centre and alumni of the National Service Programme (PKBN).

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin bade the delegation farewell at the Brunei International Airport.

During the programme, the delegation will make a courtesy visit to the Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner in Malaysia and the Malaysian Head of Director of Youth and Sports.

They will also pay visits to the National Youth Skills Training Institute (IKBN), International Youth Centre, Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MAGIC), Biji Biji Initiative, hold a dialogue with the Malaysian Youth Council and live with foster families during the home stay programme.

The Youth Exchange Programme is one of the programmes under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Brunei and Malaysia in the field of cooperation of youth and sports that was signed in July 2011.
