Prince completes Instrument Flying Test in United Kingdom

HIS Royal Highness Prince Captain ‘Abdul Mateen received a certificate after successfully completing the Instrument Flying Test in a graduation ceremony held at the Daedalus Officers’ Mess, Royal Air Force Cranwell, United Kingdom yesterday.

Upon arrival at the Royal Air Force Cranwell, His Royal Highness was greeted by Air Commodore Peter Squires, Commandant Royal Air Force College Cranwell. His Royal Highness was awarded a certificate by Group Captain Jex Milne, Commandant 3 Flying School.

His Royal Highness had undergone the Instrument Flying Test for seven months at the 57 Squadron Royal Airforce Cranwell. Twelve trainees from the Royal Saudi Air Force, Kuwaiti Air Force and Royal British Air Force were involved and have flown the Fixed Wing Tutor Grobe 115 aircraft during the training.

Present at the graduation ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim and Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah. Also present were executive officers of the Royal Air Force Cranwell and Royal Air Force Shawbury and officers from the Brunei Darussalam High Commission in the United Kingdom.

The graduation ceremony concluded with a visit to 57 Squadron where a briefing was presented by Squadron Leader Mike Waring, Officer Commanding 57 Squadron and followed by a video presentation and static display of the Fixed Wing Tutor Grobe 115 aircraft.
