TO MARK the diamond jubilee of radio services in the country, Pilihan FM will be running a one-off 24-hour programme beginning midnight this Tuesday, May 2, 2017 till midnight Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
Adding to the show’s uniqueness is the fact that the show will be presided over by two of Pilihan FM’s full-time radio producers-cum-disc jockeys; Frankie Chan for the English session and Mei Ting for the Mandarin segment – this will be the first time such an arrangement and programme will be run on local radio.
Both DJs have promised their listeners a lively programme filled with good music – ranging from oldies from the 50s and popular bilingual (English and Mandarin) songs, as well as a variety of interactive and entertaining talk segments.
The radiothon will also be live at selected times on Pilihan FM’s social media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram, hosting and conducting live studio interviews with a wide range of guests, such as members from the diplomatic community and upcoming local talents.
The DJs will also be making playbacks of selected popular old radio segments, as well as recorded interviews of former radio producers and presenters of Radio Brunei.
A live crossover reporting on the official launch of the ‘Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Radio Brunei’ at RTB Dewan Raya will also be made, as well as reporting from Radio Studio A on the ‘Six Decades of Radio Brunei Special Exhibition’.
Also to be featured in the Tuesday radiothon is a live simulcast between Pilihan FM and Radio Thailand from 11.05am to 11.55am (an MoU arrangement between Brunei and Thailand) to mark Radio Brunei’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration and the 84th anniversary of the Public Relations Department (PRD) of the Kingdom of Thailand.

From 1.15pm to 2pm, a live Skype broadcast with Bruneian students from Melbourne, Australia will be made.
As the radiothon rolls on into the evening, listeners will be treated to chillout interview sessions with a few up-and-coming local personalities.
Listeners who tune in to and participate in the radiothon stand the chance to win attractive prizes such as hotel and resort stays in Kota Kinabalu, Temburong overnight stay packages, goodie bags, Pilihan FM merchandise, hair and makeup services, and cakes, among others.
Examples of interactive games for programme participants include mini treasure hunts at famous Brunei landmarks, and puzzles and general knowledge questions (relating to Radio Brunei’s establishment) – these quizzes will be conducted through Pilihan FM’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, Skype and Short Messaging Service (SMS).
