THE Neighbourhood Watch programme has been implemented in 18 villages in the Tutong District with a total membership of 334, said the Tutong Police District Commanding Officer, Superintendent of Police Haji Chipli bin Haji Mohamad.
He said this while chairing the first meeting this year between the police and penghulus and village heads, at the Tutong District Office.
Also present was the Acting Tutong District Officer, Haji Adnan bin Haji Adam.
The meeting began with a briefing delivered by Superintendent Haji Chipli on the progress of Neighbourhood Watch in the district which was followed by reports on the fourth quarter of 2015 and first quarter of 2016.
He said that the eradication of crime cannot be left to the police alone because everyone has a role to ensure security, peace and welfare of the society.
The meeting included a briefing on statistics on crimes and traffic violations for the fourth quarter of 2015 and first quarter of 2016. It was delivered by Assistant Tutong Police District Commanding Officer cum Tutong District Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ramzi Hayatina bin Dato Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Ibrahim.
