THE Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) conducted a mass gathering for its members yesterday to celebrate the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2017.
The gathering was held at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien.
The guest of honour was Sheikh Haji Abdul Kadir bin Abdullah, Secretary General of BDRCS.
With the theme ‘The Power of Humanity’, the ceremonial parade began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by the inspection of guard of honour by Sheikh Haji Abdul Kadir.
Members of BDRCS then recited the oath followed by the rank commissioning ceremony for selected members of BDRCS.

The event preceded with demonstrations and activities including First Aid and Health Check, Disaster Risk Reduction Awareness and Response Recovery Relief Activities and Humanitarian Volunteer Recruitments conducted by BDRCS members.
BDRCS launched the Brunei Red Crescent Youth Council (BRC YOUTH) at the Games Village in Berakas in the afternoon, marking another milestone for the association.
“The objective is to nurture the future leaders as the Nexgen Leadership of Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent by BDRCS 2010 – 2035,” the BDRCS Secretary General said.
Senior officers, officers, representatives from branches, the BDRCS School Cadets and BDRCS Youth Volunteers were also present.
