SPECIAL Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD) athletes are looking to grab medals at the 9th Special Olympic Singapore National Games on May 19-22.
Esremy bin Luas and Muhd Haziman Azrul bin Nurudin will be competing in the athletic events under the guidance of coach Salim bin Haji Puteh.
Josepeswandy Bukoh anak Tan and Mohd Nor Salihin bin Dahlan will contest in the badminton event under coach Haji Hamdan bin Ajak.
President of SOBD, Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Rambli bin Pengiran Haji Bunut, handed over the national flag to head of contingent, Adanan bin Musim, during a ceremony at Brunei International Airport before their departure to Singapore yesterday.
“Based on our good track record of competing in overseas competitions, we are capable of obtaining medals in this tournament,” said the SOBD president.
“The athletes are entirely new. This is to provide an opportunity for emerging talent to compete overseas.
“We want to groom potentials for the future,” he said, adding that he hoped the athletes would repay the SOBD’s faith in them.
