AS PART of the effort to ease the daily burden of the poor and destitute (Fakir Miskin), the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) presented donations from tithe collection to the underprivileged of Temburong District yesterday.
Presenting the contributions was Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud in his capacity as the Vice-President of MUIB.
The ceremony took place at the Religious Affairs office in Temburong District.
Among the recipients was Khairul Nawar bin Esmed, 27, who received assistance in the form of a motorboat and fishing equipment purchased with the tithe collection, totalling $16,929.
Khairul Nawar currently has no stable income and relies heavily on fishing to support his family’s daily needs.
At the ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs also distributed basic daily essentials to some 21 underprivileged families in the district.
Later, at Selapon Dakwah Post, the deputy minister presented donations in the form of basic daily essentials – contributed by the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Association – to four Muallaf family.
