SHAH United are looking forward to competing in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Invitational Futsal Club Championship from July 2-8 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Drawn in Group ‘A’, Shah United will be up against two-time defending champions Port FC from Thailand, Indonesian side Permata Indah and a yet to be confirmed club from Myanmar.

The draw was officially published on AFF’s website earlier this week, and Shah United’s manager Khaier Shukrie bin Haji Md Lazim said his team are eager to test themselves against top futsal clubs in the region.

“This will be a good platform for the team and will serve as a test for us against some of the best clubs around the region,” he said.

“At the same time, this gives us exposure playing in a high level competition.

“With this competition, all of the teams in the Brunei Futsal League have a target to play for and will make the extra effort so they can compete internationally,” he added.

Shah United start their campaign against the Myanmar side on July 2 before facing Permata Indah on July 3 and Port FC on July 4. Group ‘B’ comprised East Coast Heat (Australia), Melaka United (Malaysia), Sana Khanh Hoa (Vietnam) and Vientiane Capital (Laos), with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals.

“The draw is a bit tough as we are pitted against representatives from Thailand and Indonesia, and we all know how good their players are,” said Khaier of the draw.
