THE Ministry of Education (MoE) held a Tedarus, Tahlil and Doa Arwah gathering attended by 200 people in Temburong District yesterday.
The event was held at the multi-purpose hall of the Rataie Primary School, under the auspices of the Department of Curriculum Development, Institute of Brunei Technical Education and the Sultan Hassan Secondary School.
The guest of honour was Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Education.
The event began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour followed by a recitation of verses from the Al-Quran, starting with Juzuk 13.
The Al-Quran recitation was then continued by the senior officers and staff members from the ministry as well as students from the Sultan Hassan Secondary School.
The session concluded with recitations of the Tahlil and Doa Arwah led by Mohd Safwan bin Zolkipli, the Imam of Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Mosque in Kampong Bokok.
Later, the guest of honour presented a Waqaf comprising the Al-Quran Mushaf Brunei Darussalam, prayer veils for women and prayer mats to Abdul Wafi Sia bin Abdullah Sia, Principal of the Sultan Hassan Secondary School; and Hamnorzekri bin Haji Abdul Hamit, a representative of the Rataie Primary School.
The Waqaf was contributed with donations from the ministry’s senior officers, officers and staff.
Among those in attendance were YB Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, Legislative Council member; Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) and Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali.
