MEMBERS of the Britain Brunei Business Forum (BBBF), along with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MoFAT) and local educational establishments attended a talk pertaining to Halal products and their production by Ghanim International Corporation which trades as ‘bruneihalalfoods’.
The talk held at The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong saw Dr Nur Rahman, CEO of Ghanim International Corporation explaining the broader term of Halal, that does not only apply to food, but also to a broader range of products such as cosmetics and pharmaceutical products.
He explained that a thorough certification process ensures that cross-contamination is avoided. He also explained that Halal products can be produced anywhere, provided that the proper certification process has been carried out as required by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council and by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
He added that the process will include a minimum of two trained and certified Muslims controlling the production process and said that bruneihalalfoods thus has a huge potential and can open up new markets for its products as well as creating new jobs in the economy.
Dr Nur Rahman said that because bruneihalalfoods uses only natural ingredients in its products, they contain no harmful additives.
He shared that chicken goujons contain 100 per cent chicken meat and consequently have lower fat content. For those conscious about health and diet (especially those suffering from diabetes, hypertension or heart disease) bruneihalalfoods offers products such as sugar replacement (Provia) made from natural ingredients and low sodium salt (nutrisal). The lower sugar, salt and fat content of bruneihalalfoods products means reduced risk of medical problems.
Dr Nur Rahman said the company manufactures and sells to the United Kingdom and is about to export to Middle East markets from its Birmingham factory.
William Martin, Chairman of BBBF commented, “Dr Nur Rahman’s presentation provided a valuable and informed insight not only into Halal products, but their health benefits as well as the brand’s potential for supporting economies around the world.”
