THE spirit of togetherness and warmth was felt during the first Hari Raya open house hosted by China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC), a world-renowned construction company currently spearheading the Pulau Muara Besar (PMB) Bridge project.
Well-wishers, comprising government officials, authority bodies, project partners and clients thronged Nur Wanita Restaurant, Serasa to celebrate the joy of Aidilfitri with CHEC management and staff.
The venue provided a perfect backdrop for the occasion – guests were able to view the progress of the 2.7km bridge connecting the mainland to the western shore of PMB.
Among the prominent figures present were Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, the Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Yang Jian, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam.
A representative from CHEC noted that Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a joyous time not just for Muslims, but also for their new friends and colleagues in Brunei – made up of different races and various backgrounds – to come together and join in the celebration.
On March 20, 2015, CHEC successfully won the bid for the Brunei PMB Sea-crossing Bridge Project, which is currently at 70 per cent completion and scheduled to be opened by 2018.
The project encompasses a new 2,680m-long two-way four-lane sea-crossing bridge connecting the Brunei-Muara District to Pulau Muara Besar, a 3.1km-long land road, infrastructure such as water supply, power supply and communication facilities provided to Pulau Muara Besar through the bridge.
CHEC is a world-renowned construction company with over 35 years of experience in the field of infrastructure construction including bridges and roads, marine engineering, dredging and reclamation, railways and airports.
