BUSINESS owners in Seria’s Supa Save building are assessing the costs after their shops were broken into and damaged by an unnamed man, in a spate of vandalism yesterday.

No items or cash were reported stolen, but the windows and doors of several shops were smashed during the crime spree, while the building’s toilets were also targeted.

One of the business outlets involved was The Coffee Bean Brunei, whose Public Relations and Events Executive, Amy Cheong, told the Bulletin, “We are assisting with the relevant authorities in any way that we can. We urge the public to wait for official statements from the police and to be wary of any information from unofficial channels.”

A shop owner, who refused to be identified, said, “We were informed of the damages to the shop early this morning by the security staff. The CCTV footage taken of our shop front will be handed over to the police, to speed up investigations of this incident.”

Several outlets managed to avoid being hit, due to metal security doors and gates placed at the shop fronts.

Supa Save resumed business operations after the incident.

The vandal was apprehended by business owners at the scene of his crime spree, and taken to the police. He was also understood to have been without clothes during the rampage.

The police are conducting investigations into the incident.
