IN CONJUNCTION with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 71st birthday celebrations, the Brunei-Muara District will be staging a number of performances and competitions beginning 8pm from July 15 – 31 at the car park area near the Royal Regalia Building in the capital.
This was highlighted by Rosdin bin Haji Abdul Aziz, Level II Special Duties Officer at the Brunei-Muara District Office in his capacity as Head of Secretariat for Festive Stage Performance of Brunei Muara District 2017 during a press conference yesterday at the new building of the Brunei-Muara District Office at the Old Airport.
“A total of 17 stage performances – cultural, religious and entertainment – and competitions will be held at night from July 15 to July 31 to enliven the birthday celebrations of our monarch,” Rosdin said.
These include the Warna Warni PeSTAB (Brunei Arts Enthusiasts Association), Nostalgia Simfoni Irama, Pre-University Tausyeh Competition, Pentarama, Budaya Pemedayan Malam and Asean Night, to name a few.
The Warna Warni PeSTAB performance – organised by PeSTAB – will be staged on July 15, while Nostalgia Simfoni Irama – organised by D’Simfoni 16 – will be held on July 16.

Meanwhile, the Junjung Daulat Poetry Declamation Competition, organised by the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) and Putra Seni will be held on July 17; while the Pre-University Tausyeh Competition – organised by the Spiritual Unit of the Co-Curriculum Education Department – will take place on July 18.
The Information Department will present their Pentarama performance on July 19, while the Religious Stage Performance – organised by the Islamic Studies Department – will be staged on July 20.
The Malay Kedayan Association (PEMEDAYAN) will present a cultural performance titled Budaya Pemedayan Malam on July 21, while the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) will present a Gulingtangan and Dance performance on July 22. Singers, Dancers and Musicians Association of Brunei Darussalam (3P) will also be performing a Persembahan Ku performance on July 23.
On July 24, the public will be entertained by the Menambang Syair Perlembagaan Competition organised by the Akli Unit of the Co-Curriculum Education Department. This is followed by the Muzika Bike 2017 event – organised by Zol Entertainment – on July 25.
On July 26, the Warisan Budaya Mukun group will hold the Mukun Competition for the Brunei-Muara District, while on July 27, the Islamic Da’wah Centre will perform the Taat Kepada Ulul Amri.
The Brunei-Muara District Office will give a performance titled Malam Bintang Keputeraan 71 Tahun on July 28.
Asean Night, organised by the MCYS, will take place on July 29. On July 30, the Malam Dendangan Syahdu performance will be by the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils of the Brunei-Muara District, while Malam Sumbangsih – organised by the Brunei-Muara District Office – will be performed on July 31.
Rosdin also shared during the press conference that the public will also be entertained by two events to be held at Jerudong Park Amphitheatre: the Malam Kebudayaan Progresif – organised by Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd – on July 15, and Bermukun Keputeraan Senegara 2017 Competition – organised by Kumpulan Warisan Budaya Mukun group in collaboration with the Brunei-Muara District Office – on July 30.
