The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) new building in Old Airport, Berakas. The medals were presented by the Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman. Also present was Deputy Minister of Education, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar.
In welcoming remarks, Pengiran Haji Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Halus, Acting Director of Administration and Services, Administration and Services Department, in his capacity as the chairman of the organising committee for the PKL awards presentation for MoE and departments under it, said that the awards signify the appreciation of His Majesty for the contribution of MoE’s officers and staff.

One of the recipient, Dr Hajah Norbaya bin Haji Shaminan, Education Officer and class teacher of Year 1B at Katok A Primary School told the Bulletin that she has been working with the Ministry of Education for 27 years.
Asked about her working experience, Dr Hajah Norbaya explained that to be where she is now, she faced a lot of hurdles and encountered many challenges, especially in dealing with students with special needs.
Being in the field for almost three decades, Dr Hajah Norbaya explained that there are not many teachers who have skills to teach differently-abled students.
“We need to apply techniques and skills that we gained and put aside our personal emotion. We must know how to handle them and deliver the knowledge to them just like other students,” she said
Being a class teacher for Year 1B at Katok A Primary School for the past seven months, teaching physical education and arts, Dr Hajah Norbaya explained that her techniques would gradually encourage the hearing impaired students to express themselves.
Dr Yabit bin Alas, Director of the Language Centre at Universiti Brunei Darussalam expressed his gratitude to His Majesty for the PKL awards.
He worked with the Ministry of Education for 27 years. He said all civil servants need to be honest while at the same time seek innovative ideas.
