HUNDREDS turned up at the capital on Wednesday to catch the Pentarama performance night organised by the Information Department in celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 71st birthday.
Held at the parking lot across the Royal Regalia Building, the Pentarama aims to spread positive messages on education, nationalism and religion among the community.
Legislative Council member cum Mukim Berakas B Penghulu YB Pengiran Haji Ali bin Pengiran Maon attended as the guest of honour. Also present was Acting Deputy Director of Information cum event chairperson Hajah Noorashidah binti Haji Ali Omar.
The glittery night began with the traditional ‘Jipin Dindang Disayang’ dance, followed by a group medley performance of the theme song ‘Pentarama’ and ‘Dirgahayu’ by local artistes.
This year, Pentarama was performed by the Information Department employees who were top winners of a recent talent competition.
Local invited artistes included Hasrina, Andie Othman and popular comedian, Dang Kasum.
The crowd was kept entertained with drama and comedy sketches as well as fun quizzes.
Pentarama performance night will make its way across the remaining districts, starting with the Belait District tomorrow, Tutong District on July 26 and in the Temburong District on July 29.
The public is welcome to witness the performances for free in their respective districts.
