DEPUTY Minister of Defence First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohammad Tamit yesterday received a courtesy call from Vice Admiral Ray Griggs, the Vice Chief of Defence Force, Australia Defence Force.
First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz reaffirmed the mutually close and warm friendship between the two defence establishments, which has flourished across a range of extensive interactions such as exchange visits, exercises, trainings, professional exchanges, and courses.
They also took the opportunity to exchange views on regional and international security issues, covering areas of mutual interests.
Vice Admiral Griggs visited Brunei Darussalam during the annual Chiefs of Defence Conference (CHOD) held in November 2014.
Vice Admiral Ray Griggs also paid a courtesy call on Royal Brunei Armed Forces Commander Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah.
Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih welcomed Vice Admiral Ray Griggs to Brunei Darussalam and commended the close bilateral relations between the two countries.
Both sides reaffirmed to continue to strengthen the defence relations through regular exchange of visits, exercises, trainings and courses.
The RBAF Commander also expressed appreciation for Australia’s efforts to organise various meetings and exercises that have contributed significantly in underpinning the rapport and professionalism between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Australian Defence Force.
Vice Admiral Ray Griggs is on a two-day official visit to Brunei Darussalam, which is one part of his extensive tour around the Southeast Asian region.
