Brunei Tug-of-War teams competing in Singapore

TEAM A (NBD Tuggers) and Team B (EWC) will be representing Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-War Association in the Asian Indoor Tug-of -War Championship taking place this weekend at Republic Polytechnic, Singapore.

The teams yesterday departed for Singapore after a sendoff by Pengiran Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Jadid, Secretary of the Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-War Association and Valentine Hon, General Manager of Kingston Beverage & Creamery.

According to team manager Haji Salleh bin Haji Osman, “The team has come together for intensive training in the past 10 days and is ready to do their best in the championship.”

However, he also noted that among the traditional favourite teams to lift the championship are Taiwan and China. Other participating teams are from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau.

Haji Salleh also thanked Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-War Association as well as the Youth and Sports Department and Kingston Beverage & Creamery as sponsor.

The teams comprised 10 pullers (eight to be fielded in the match and two for substitution). The combined weight for the eight pullers is 640kg.

In previous tournaments, Team A was the champion of the Singapore Tug-of-War invitational in 2014 while in 2012, the team came in second place in the Singapore Open.
