FAMILY members and friends bid farewell to the last batch of intending pilgrims at the Brunei International Airport that left for Madinah at 10.08pm yesterday.
The flight was scheduled to arrive at 2.48am Madinah time.
Onboard the flight were 253 pilgrims under the Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd and under Raudah Al-Amin Sdn Bhd, including a medical team and officers from Darussalam Holdings and Raudah Al-Amin.
Present to bid the pilgrims farewell were Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB); Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The departure ceremony was blessed with a Doa led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Mustafa bin Haji Murat, and an Azan was performed by Mudim Haji Suhaili bin Haji Kalong.
Mohammad Juhilmi bin Haji Mazid, a young pilgrim, in an interview with the Bulletin expressed gratitude to his parents who decided to bring him along and to Allah the Almighty for the blessing.
Pengiran Zainal Abidin bin Pengiran Haji Matarsad, in an interview with the Bulletin, expressed gratitude to Allah the Almighty for enabling him to perform the Haj this year. The former soldier also expressed gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and shared that he received Kurnia to perform the Haj through the Ministry of Defence.
He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Religious Affairs for providing intending Haj pilgrims courses on the Haj pilgrimage.
