Happy days return for holidaymakers as Jollibee reopens outlet at BIA

HAVING established a solid foothold in Brunei Darussalam for more than 30 years, Jollibee – the much-loved Philippines fast food franchise – celebrated another milestone following the reopening of their outlet at Brunei International Airport (BIA) yesterday morning – the franchise’s largest restaurant in the country.

Unveiling the new store – Jollibee’s 15th outlet in Brunei – in a ribbon-cutting ceremony was guest of honour Meynardo LB Montealegre, the Philippines Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam.

Also joining in the ribbon cutting were Dennis Flores, Jollibee Food Corporation’s Vice President for International Operations for Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia; Awang Abdul Razak bin Mohammad Hassan, the grandson of Jollibee Brunei’s franchisee; and Muhammad Emmy Shamdy Khairul bin Haji Kadir, Acting Deputy Director of Civil Aviation.

In attendance to witness the event were Rodel Alcantare, Jollibee Vice President and Market Head for Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Europe; Christina Ward, Jollibee Operations Head; Roilan Alvarez, Jollibee Group Manager; and Haji Md Shukry bin Haji Md Yusof, Restaurant Manager for Jollibee Brunei International Airport branch; as well as Liyana Yus, Brand Ambassador of Jollibee Brunei.

“Today is a joyous occasion as we finally open our outlet at Brunei International Airport, our biggest and most beautiful store in Brunei,” said Dennis Flores in his opening remarks.

He recalled, “In 2014, we closed our Jollibee store at the Brunei International Airport during the airport’s terminal renovation. The public now has the opportunity to return and enjoy dining in more comfortable settings.”

He also conveyed his gratitude on behalf of Jollibee Food Corporation to the Civil Aviation Department; Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Setia Dato Setia Haji Awang Abdul Hapidz bin Pehin Orang Kaya Laksamana Haji Awang Abdul Razak; as well as Jollibee Brunei for their support in the opening of the new outlet.

Meanwhile, Christina Ward, in her address, highlighted that “recently, Jollibee Brunei celebrated its 30th year of existence in Brunei. A combination of quality food, service, cleanliness, as well as the hard work of Jollibee Brunei team has made the franchise a very well-loved brand in Brunei.”

She added, “Jollibee Brunei mostly serves the local market, with almost all our customers being Bruneian. We would like to thank Bruneians for accepting us and we will continue to serve the Brunei community with our great tasting food and friendly service.”

The Jollibee Food Corporation Group’s worldwide store network has reached 3,570 stores. As the market leader in the Philippines, Jollibee has embarked on an international expansion plan in line with its mission to serve great tasting food and to bring the joy of eating to everyone.
