Korban ceremonies in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha

YAYASAN SULTAN HAJI HASSANAL BOLKIAH

YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) held a Korban ceremony and Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at the Yayasan Headquarters yesterday.

The annual event was organised by the Yayasan Staff Welfare Body (BKP Yayasan) through its Religious Division.

Fifty-nine people comprising officers, teachers, and staff of Yayasan and family members participated in the Korban/Aqiqah this year. Eight cows and three goats were slaughtered in conjunction with the Korban ceremony.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Ustaz Haji Shamsul Muawan bin Haji Shodiq, Yayasan Secondary School teacher.

The guest of honour Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education, in his capacity as the Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors presented Korban meat to participants at the ceremony.

Korban meat was presented to representatives of villages to be distributed among the underprivileged. The representatives were Shahminan bin Haji Matzin, Village Head of Kampong Bolkiah ‘A’; Shamsudin bin Haji Maidin, Village Head of Kampong Bolkiah ‘B’; Hairol Mazlan bin Abdul Razak, Imam of Masjid Kampong Benutan; Muhd Izzul Islam bin Abdullah, Imam of Kampong Bebuloh Religious Activity House; Haji Azley bin Haji Muhd Aliuddin, Imam of Kampong Bukit Mosque; and Haji Chuchu bin Haji Serudin, Village Head of Kampong Lumapas ‘B’.

BKP Yayasan presented a $500 contribution to the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA).

Ahmad Rithauddin bin Haji Sabtu, President of BKP YSHHB, presented the contribution to Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi in his capacity as the Chairman of the DANA Board of Trustees.

The Yayasan Employee Charitable Fund (TADEKHA) also presented a $500 contribution to DANA.

Ahmad Rithauddin, Committee Chairman of TADEKHA, presented the contribution to Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi.

TADEKHA also presented a $300 contribution to the Kampong Subok Welfare Housing Complex.

The Chairman of TADEKHA presented the contribution to Khairul Ariffin bin Haji Abdul Aji from the Kampong Subok Welfare Housing Complex.

The event ended with a recitation of Doa Selamat by Ustaz Haji Shamsul Muawan.
Dato Paduka Eddie bin Dato Paduka Haji Sunny, Managing Director of Yayasan; assistant managing directors of Yayasan; officers and staff as well as teachers and staff of Yayasan were also present.

STATE MUFTI’S OFFICE

UNDERPRIVILEGED individuals from six villages in Mukim Sengkurong received Korban meat during a ceremony organised jointly by the State Mufti’s Office, Prime Minister’s Office; Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) and Mulaut Abattoir Sdn Bhd yesterday.

Five cows, six buffaloes and a goat were sacrificed during the ceremony at the Mukim Sengkurong Community Hall.

The guest of honour was the State Mufti, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned who also handed over the Korban meat to the recipients.

Also present were the Executive General Manager (Corporate Risk) of RB, Captain Khalidkhan bin Haji Asmakhan; Deputy State Mufti Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin and senior officials from the three hosting organisations.

Underprivileged families from Kampong Sengkurong ‘A’, Kampong Sengkurong ‘B’, Kampong Sengkurong, Kampong Tagap, Kampong Bukit Bunga and Kampong Jerudong received their share of the Korban meat during the ceremony yesterday.

UNIVERSITI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam (UBD) yesterday conducted a Korban ceremony at its Multipurpose Hall in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.

This year, 27 people participated in the Korban ritual. Three buffaloes and one cow were sacrificed with the Korban meat distributed among the participants and underprivileged families from RPN Kampong Rimba.

UBD Vice-Chancellor Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz distribute portions of the Korban meat.

UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI BRUNEI

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a mass Takbir Hari Raya, and a special religious talk entitled ‘Benefits of Ibadah Korban’ to individuals, community and family.

It was delivered by Ustaz Isham bin Haji Ismail, an invited speaker from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.

The ceremony was officiated by the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, who presented the Korban meat to UTB students, and Asnaf Fakir recipients. Also in attendance were principal officers, senior officers, staff, and students of the university.
