COMMANDER of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah recently attended the 20th Annual Chiefs of Defence (CHOD) Conference 2017 in Victoria, Canada, to discuss peace and security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
Twenty-eight chiefs of defence and representatives from the Indo-Asia-Pacific region attended the conference co-hosted by the Canadian Armed Forces and the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) at the Fairmont Empress Hotel from September 4-6.
The CHOD Conference carried the theme ‘The Future Security Environment: Challenges, Complexity and Cooperation.’ Part of the conference agenda included working lunches and presentations by guest speakers on subjects related to the conference theme, along with plenary sessions for CHODs to discuss the subjects that were presented.
During the welcoming reception, all CHODs also had the opportunity to meet Minister of National Defence of Canada Harjit Singh Sajjan.
The RBAF Commander also held courtesy calls with his CHOD counterparts to discuss the warm bilateral ties between Brunei Darussalam and the respective countries, as well as future initiatives to further strengthen the professional relations and personal friendship between armed forces of the Indo-Asia-Pacific region in general.
The conference ended with a farewell dinner at the Government House.
