THIS year, Brunei celebrates its 27th Teacher’s Day since 1991, as a mark of respect towards the profession which has extensively contributed towards the country’s capacity-building in terms of human resources.
With ‘Teacher’s Excellence, the core of an Ummah’s Success’ as the theme for this year’s celebrations, an exhibition was held yesterday at the Inter-national Convention Centre (ICC), highlighting the contributions of teachers towards student excellence through programmes and accomplishments at national, regional and international levels.
The first of the five sections at the exhibition featured excerpts from titahs made on previous Teacher’s Day celebrations by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darusssalam.
Section 2 focused on the Literacy Numeracy Coaching Programme (LNCP), while Section 3 examined the role of the Islamic Studies Department at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The 4th Section was dedicated to the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE); Section 5 dealt with public higher education institutions; and Sector 6 explored aspects of the Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) Alaf programme.
The exhibition also paid tribute to the joint efforts made by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs in improving educational methods through structured programmes in learning and teaching.
