JERUDONG International School (JIS) made a clean sweep in the Secondary Schools and Colleges Cluster 2 Netball Championship after scooping both the under-15 and under-18s titles on home soil at the JIS Sports Complex yesterday.
JIS overcame Awang Semaun Secondary School in both the under-15s and under-18s final with the Masin Secondary School finishing third in both categories.
The individual awards were also dominated by JIS with the best player award won by Bazilah for the under-15 category while Sophie Granville took the best player award in the under-18 category.
Organised by the Co-curriculum Education Department under the Ministry of Education, the guest of honour at the event was the Principal of JIS, Barnaby Sandow who presented prizes.
Among the objectives of the competition were to encourage and drive teenage athletes in schools and colleges to be active in sports activities as well as produce a physically and mentally healthy and fit community.
The tournament also served to evaluate the level of quality and achievement of teenage athletes who have the potential and to be guided through systematic approach to enable them to represent the country in the future, other than being one of the annual projects of the Co-curriculum Education Department.
